“Building Craftsman Structure Kits” is a step by step tutorial into one of the most fascinating aspects of our hobby. Scott breaks down each segment of construction, so that even a novice structure builder will feel comfortable.

In this DVD, Scott revises the clinic that he has presented many times at NMRA conventions and prototype meets.

This DVD begins with a seven minute tour of Dick Elwell’s Hoosac Valley Lines. Many of the scenes appear on the new sections of Dick’s popular layout, and are seen on video for the first time here. Many of the craftsman structure kits on Dick’s layout were built by Scott.

Next, Scott provides an overview of craftsman structure kits before launching into the construction of our Whitney & Bent Furniture Co.

All of the techniques he demonstrates can be used on any craftsman structure kit. Scott’s structure building skills place him in demand with model railroaders around the United States who hire Scott to build structures for their layouts.

Most recently, Scott and a few talented model railroaders took on the task of restoring and adding onto the Pennsy Middle Division HO scale layout built by Dave Frary for a series in Model Railroader Magazine in 1993.
